Seasoned Strategist Michael Culp to Lead Practice
Premier Public Affairs Firm Expands to Meet Market Needs
Columbus, Ohio – Resolute Consulting, a growing public affairs and strategic communications firm with headquarters in Chicago, has opened a Columbus office and landed Ohio native Michael Culp as vice president, the firm announced today.
"We are pleased to open Resolute Consulting's Ohio office, as we have identified many opportunities to build on our firm's existing presence in the state and expand already robust relationships between and among various sectors in Ohio and Illinois," said Resolute Consulting's founder and president Greg Goldner. "Resolute works in 14 states in the Midwest, and our Columbus office gives us a solid foundation to serve clients in all sectors across the great state of Ohio."
Michael Culp, Resolute's Ohio-based vice president, will serve both existing clients and foster new partnerships for the firm. Prior to joining Resolute, Culp worked in various public and private sector roles. He served as chief of staff for Ohio Treasurer Kevin Boyce, as deputy legislative director for Ohio Governor Ted Strickland, as a senior staff person in the Ohio legislature, as an Ohio statehouse reporter with Gannett News Service, and as a lobbyist for a variety of clients.
"Resolute offered a unique opportunity to use my experience in campaigns and draw upon the resources of a growing and diverse firm to serve clients with the highest impact," said Culp, a Tiffin, Ohio, native and graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University.
Founded in 2003 in Chicago, Resolute Consulting also has offices in Washington, D.C. Firm founder Goldner has assembled a diverse and talented team of professionals with expertise in public affairs and strategic communications, including issues management, public outreach and coalition building, online and digital advocacy, and signature event production. Last year, the firm's net billings were up six percent over the prior year; in 2010, Goldner anticipates a 30-percent increase.
Prior to founding Resolute, Goldner managed Rahm Emanuel's first race for Congress, and was Mayor Richard M. Daley's choice to manage his successful reelection in 2003.
"We looked closely at a number of potential locations and Ohio made the most sense for our firm," Goldner said. "It's an important state. If you want to be in the national mix of what's relevant, you have to be in Ohio."
Of Resolute's landing Culp as the firm's vice president for Ohio, Dan McCarthy, president of The Success Group, said: “In today’s complex public policy environment, in order to achieve results, you need the right combination of tactics guided by a savvy professional. With Mike Culp, Resolute Consulting has a great person who can organize resources and effectively target them to build support around a particular issue.”
On his appointment and Resolute's Ohio new office, Culp said, "Resolute is a great fit because what the firm does -- building support for issues -- is something I've done throughout my career in public service. Resolute offered me a unique opportunity to work for a growing, Midwestern public affairs firm that provides clients with superior service--real-world solutions with real-world impact."
Said Goldner: "Resolute Consulting has a specific plan for growth in the Midwest and beyond. Ohio is the first next step."
