As Executive Vice President, Jake designs and implements public affairs campaigns, focusing on issue advocacy and the firm’s emerging homeland and cyber security practice. In addition, he leads Resolute’s sister company, Central Strategies, a political consulting firm that works with candidates in the United States and abroad.
Jake currently provides strategic counsel and guidance to several national Fortune 100 companies and also works with a variety of non-profits, helping devise and implement communications, outreach and high level activation campaigns using the most sophisticated techniques.
Before joining Resolute Consulting, Jake served as Director of White House and Public Liaison for the Department of Homeland Security. In this capacity, he coordinated key public engagement efforts for the department and oversaw all presidential appointment actions. Jake oversaw community relations and strategic communications for DHS and the White House during the 2010 Deep Water Horizon Gulf Oil Spill. Jake also advised senior intelligence staff on public engagement with state and local law enforcement related to domestic terrorism policy and directed The Department’s global marketing efforts to promote U.S. Customs and Border Patrol’s Trusted Traveler program.
Before joining DHS, Jake served on the Presidential Transition Team as Deputy Director for the National Security Agencies Review. During The Transition, he oversaw review programs for all national security agencies and shepherded policy assessments from their inception to the President-Elect’s desk. Since the Presidential Transition, he has played a key role in the Obama Administration.
Jake went into The Obama Administration after over a decade of working in journalism and political and public affairs. Before coming to Washington, Jake served as the National Deputy Field Director to the Obama for America Campaign. He also led public affairs efforts for groups as diverse as the Coalition for Comprehensive Immigration Reform, Illinois League of Conservation Voters, Chicago Public Schools, and Big Ten Network.
Before entering the public policy sector, Jake worked as a journalist for newspapers in Illinois and Taiwan. He has an MA in International Relations from Troy St. University and an MA in education from National-Louis University in Chicago and a BA in Philosophy from Loyola University of Chicago.
