Jim Soreng is experienced in creating and implementing public outreach programs at the municipal, county, and state levels. He specializes in issue advocacy campaigns and often serves as the Illinois or Midwest manager on national issues which have involved the aerospace, renewable energy, health care and financial industries. He also provides numerous Resolute clients with legislative outreach and coalition-building at the local and state levels.
Prior to joining Resolute, Jim served as regional manager for the Illinois State Treasurer's Office, where he designed and managed an innovative economic development program – "Our Own Home" – a statewide, anti-predatory mortgage assurance program for low- to moderate-income homeowners that resulted in an enviable, three-year record of no foreclosures or defaults. Jim also acted as the office liaison to regional councils of mayors, chambers of commerce and state and local elected officials. He was the project manager for the Treasurer's E-Pay Program (Municipal online payments program) for PACE suburban bus, City of Chicago, Cook County Clerk's office, Chicago Public Schools and a number of suburban municipalities.
On the campaign front, Jim was the field director for Judy Baar Topinka's gubernatorial race in 2006 and has worked numerous local races over the past 15 years. He began his career as legislative liaison in the office of the City Clerk of Chicago, serving members of the City Council, local chambers of commerce and community-based economic development and business organizations.
Jim is a member of Mayor Daley's Task Force on Employment for People with Disabilities, Norwood Life Care board of directors, Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago affiliate board, and member of the Irish Fellowship Club of Chicago. Jim is a graduate of Northeastern Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in history and political science.
