Nationally recognized reporter Meredith Shiner has joined Resolute Consulting as a vice president. A skilled writer and communicator, Meredith pairs a deep knowledge of politics and policy with a keen understanding of an evolving national media landscape.
Meredith spent seven years in Washington, D.C. working for respected media outlets Politico, Roll Call and Yahoo News. There, she built a network of powerful national media and political contacts while also expanding her portfolio beyond daily print journalism to include radio, television and a high-profile social media presence.
“We are proud to add Meredith’s talent, insight and experience to the Resolute team,” said Greg Goldner, chief executive officer of Resolute Consulting. “Meredith’s background as a national political reporter and expert storyteller will be a significant asset to our clients, as she will help them craft their messages to reach a wide audience and strategically position them to break through in a saturated and ever-changing media environment. Her comprehensive understanding of the legislative and political processes at the federal level also adds value to our firm and its clients.”
Resolute Consulting is a national public affairs and strategic communications firm headquartered in Chicago with offices in Los Angeles, Phoenix and Washington, D.C.
“I could not be more excited for this opportunity to join Resolute,” said Shiner. “I am honored to be included on such a smart, capable team and believe that my perspective and experience will help clients find their stories and tell them to the audiences they need to reach, even as we have a responsibility to predict and navigate where those audiences are consuming their information.”
As a journalist, Meredith gained experience reporting on both government and campaign politics, spearheading coverage of Congressional leadership, health care and Wall Street reform legislation, multiple fiscal crises, two midterms and two presidential elections. Combining her natural instincts for identifying stories and her ability to gain the trust of sources in the highest levels of Congress, Meredith consistently broke news during protracted policy debates in addition to investigating the outside groups that shaped the dominant conversations in Washington. She specialized in taking complicated and technical policy ideas and translating them into language that proved to audiences why they mattered. Meredith understands new media and how to find both niche and general audiences where they consume their information.
Meredith also has a strong background in sports, which she covered before moving to Washington. She reported on men’s basketball and the athletic department at Duke University, where she served as a beat writer, weekly columnist and sports editor. She was part of the reporting team that wrote and edited stories on the Duke lacrosse scandal, which garnered national media attention in 2006.
Meredith graduated from Duke with a B.A. in political science and is a proud Chicago-area native.
