Project Description

Financial Services

Resolute has established a reputation for providing valued counsel to firms in the financial services industry. We have experience working with small, privately-held firms as well as large, publicly-traded multinational corporations. Our work in this sector includes strategic and crisis communications planning, strategic advisory, messaging support and due diligence research. We understand the unique nature of the industry and the communications nuances required to reach a wide variety of audiences, ranging from investors to regulators and elected officials as well as the general public. Resolute has worked on behalf of Higher One, LMG2 and many others.

Freddie Mac

Building a regional network of third-party support for legislative and regulatory issues

PROJECT: Freddie Mac is a government-sponsored enterprise expanding secondary market for mortgages in the US. As the home foreclosure crisis spread, Resolute was retained to support Freddie Mac’s housing stabilization efforts in 12 states.

STRATEGY: Activities focused on building a network throughout the Midwest enabling Freddie Mac to be proactive with legislative and regulatory issues. In Illinois, the team fostered a partnership with the state treasurer’s office.

OUTCOME: In Michigan, we worked with the assistant attorney general and staff to educate government employees on mortgage fraud, including the FBI, Secret Service, IRS and state and local law enforcement. In addition, in Minnesota, after the state legislature passed a moratorium on foreclosures, we worked with the Governor’s senior staff and third-party advocates to urge the governor to veto the bill, which he did just weeks later.

Higher One

Repositioning a brand in a time of transition

PROJECT: Higher One is a publicly-traded education company managing the financial and data systems for 1,900+ colleges and universities. After controversies in the industry, the arrival of a new CEO and executive team provided a natural opportunity to reposition the company among students, colleges and universities, regulators, media and investors.

STRATEGY: Resolute developed a comprehensive strategic communications campaign to support Higher One’s introduction of the new CEO, share his vision for the company and begin to rebuild trust and credibility with audiences.

OUTCOME: Resolute produced “Students First,” an award-winning video viewed by administrators, staff, and students at more than 1,000 colleges and universities working with the company. During our engagement, Resolute also advised and executed on transition management during a sale of part of the company’s business and crisis communications.

Supporting client objectives through high-level strategic communications

PROJECT: LMG2 is an ownership group for parking garages. Resolute Consulting developed a communications plan and provided counsel on the political environment as well as stakeholder outreach for LMG2, an ownership group for Millennium Park’s universal garages near Grant Park. The new owners of Millennium Garages sought to distinguish themselves and differentiate their profile from a complicated ownership history that was the subject of previous, negative, media attention.

STRATEGY: As the company explored options for the future of its ownership, Resolute provided a communications plan to support marketing efforts and is providing strategic counsel about relevant stakeholders and decision makers, their priorities, and how best to approach them. Resolute’s communications support also includes media training of company spokespersons and crisis communications counsel.
